The story is about a young girl named Shang, who dreams of entering the Shaolin Temple. Knowing that girls are not permitted, Shang disguises herself as a monk. She meets a mysterious spiritual deer named LU, who is dedicated to protecting humans.
As their friendship develops, we learn Lu is connected to a magical cave painting in which he was born. If the deer were to become hurt, it could bring real natural disasters to the world. Shang makes it her mission to protect Lu, and in turn, Lu attempts to teach Shang how to control her anger. Only by working together can the two lost souls accomplish their goals and protect Mother Nature.

We found the inspiration from a traditional Buddhist Jataka tale named 'The Nine Colors Deer,' which was discovered as cave paintings in the Mogao Caves of Dunhuang, China.

In ancient times, a spiritual deer rescues a drowning man. In exchange, the man promises to keep it a secret. The king of this kingdom insists on hunting down the deer to make clothes out of its hide, and he promises to reward handsomely for any clue. The man gives in to his greed and leads an army to the deer's location. He falls into the river, hoping the deer will show up. Warned by a bird it saved before, the deer turns all the arrows into dust and leaves the man drowned.
